At Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries our approach to your child’s development starts with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and goes way further to help your child make the most of their time at nursery and prepare them for the journey ahead.

At Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery & Preschool Romford, our approach to early education is guided by four core principles that shape everything we do.

Play, Learn and Grow

Babies

Your baby will be gently guided through our carefully designed curriculum, built around the joy of play and discovery. Our caring, highly trained team supports early communication and language, encourages physical milestones like rolling, crawling and first steps, and nurtures emotional security and confidence. Each day offers rich sensory experiences, cosy routines and warm, responsive relationships. In our safe, loving environment, your little one can explore freely, feel soothed and seen, and build the foundations they need to thrive through their earliest years with joy and confidence.

Toddlers

Your child will learn through our play-led curriculum, supported by trained staff with expertise in the EYFS and child development, who create memorable, meaningful learning every day. At this age there are growing opportunities to explore expressive arts and design, early literacy, mathematics and understanding the world, alongside communication, self-care and social skills. Learning is not confined to four walls: we use every space, indoors and out, to spark curiosity and confidence, from imaginative role play and small-world discovery to nature walks, messy play and early problem-solving.

Preschool

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to support your child’s learning and development throughout the vital preschool years here with us. Through a balanced mix of child-led play and thoughtfully planned activities, we nurture communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional growth, and the building blocks of early literacy and numeracy. Our passionate team creates a fun, stimulating environment that encourages curiosity, builds confidence and independence, and lays strong foundations for a smooth, successful transition to school and a lifelong love of learning.

Personalised Care and Learning Journeys

At Monkey Puzzle Romford, each child is supported by a dedicated key person, a trusted Early Years Education Professional who plays a central role in nurturing the child’s emotional well-being, development, and daily experiences.

Through consistent care and a strong, secure relationship, the key person helps your child feel safe, valued, and confident as they explore their world, build friendships, and develop independence.

Our practitioners focus on the three prime areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which form the foundation of every child’s development:

These core areas are then supported by four specific areas of learning: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World & Expressive Arts and Design.

The key person carefully observes how your child engages with these areas, tailoring activities to their individual interests and learning styles. They document progress and special moments in a personalised Learning Journey, capturing key milestones and reflections on your child’s growth.

We believe that a strong partnership with families is essential. Parents and carers are encouraged to contribute to their child’s Learning Journey by sharing stories, achievements, and experiences from home. This two-way communication strengthens the bond between nursery and home, ensuring that each child’s development is supported in a truly holistic way.
